The Court's Decision in ExxonMobil
In 2003, ExxonMobil picked up the corporate free speech torch and filed a brief in a case that had nothing to do with the company or its industry. In every case, they were wanting to spend from their corporate treasuries. But if there are human candidates involved, if it's a political campaign, who can be potentially corrupted by the money? If the money is coming from the treasury, that's the stockholder's money - those two things they walled off.
