i don't get the sense that there's so much discomfort about being close proximity to other people. For example, in france, people generally don't seem to mind being that close to each other. Going back to japan, again, the personal space thing is very big. And if you're on the subway in in tokio or something, you really do to make sure you've got your bag nice and close. I mean, how could that not be awkward anywhere else? You know, i'm always aware of my personal space.
