Is the Point of Politics to Manage a Nation's Problems?
The big idea, we've heard from from grace, is an essential kind of mobilization tool. People are looking for a simpler age where they can play the role played by f t r in the 19 thirties or Munday ar in south africa. Politicians like bill clinton and tony blair braco bama and hilary clinton offered a defence of some combination of these two ideas about markets and about merit. The rhetoric of rising lost its capacity to inspire because inequalities that were brought about by the market driven globalization of the past four decades were sufficiently deep.
