Bilal: It was a long-standing ambition to be an economist. I started out then as a professional economist in the government in number 10, working for two prime ministers in the late 1970s. He became chairman of the BBC and fell out with the Blair government rather seriously over coverage of Iraq War. Bilal decided then that he wanted to become more entrepreneurial by starting up his own asset managers.
