But to do that 12,000 times in 28 countries, he'd have had to painstakingly target each ATM. To make jackpotting work on a global scale, the Lazarus group used a whole new strategy. Every bank has its own ATM switch and once the hackers were inside the one at Cosmos Bank they had the power to allow or deny ATM withdrawals from anyone using a Cosmos Bank card anywhere in the world.
