The Role of Theory of Mind in Social Cognition

Theory of mind states that as living beings interact with one another, that interaction takes the form of mental representation. So it's always applying these models to make sense of what the other person is saying. E-cognition theorists think there are going to be moments in which you are not really sure what is going on. And so how does social cognition operate then through an inactive perspective? I mean, important and not important, but necessary here or not.
