South African Civil Disobedience

The banto authorities act of 19 51 established so called home lands for black south africans, with homelands given a purportedly independent status. Anyone who moved into one of those homelands lost their south african citizenship and any rights and privileges that went along with it. A campaign of coordinated civil disobedience in response to these and other laws was launched on june 20 sixth, 19 52. Volunteers did things like intentionally using white's only facilities and being arrested and jailed as a result. Women were part of the defiance campaign.
