The only people who didn't know that was going to happen were people who had not been reading the quarterly reports from the Special Inspector General for Afghan Reconstruction. He's a modern Cassandra, cursed with the power of prophecy, but doubly cursed that nobody believed him. So I will criticize and blanket form the people who thought the Afghan security forces would hold. They suffered from hubris and mendacity. And unless there is a civilian leadership enforcing quality control and military leadership willing to be honest about the limits of what it can do, we're going to have these catastrophes again.
