The Impact of Methane Emissions on Global Warming
Even if we were to completely go to zero carbon emission or greenhouse gas emissions, it would take about 15 or 20 years for us to see that global average temperature drop. Carbon dioxide stays in the air for up to 100 years on average; methane has a residence time of between 20 and 25 years. If we want kind of a fairly good bang for our buck in trying to mitigate climate change, it would be to reduce methane emissions.
