Is Temperament a Substrat for Personality Pathology?

Our early salient attachment relationships are really problematic, whether they're traumatic or depriving. And that will be the framework through which we see the world. As these maps help guide our emotional and cognitive and behavioral responses, they're not going to do such a great job of it. So then you end up seeing the disruptions in emotion and cognition and behavior that we associate with personality pathology. But what I'm saying is those symptoms, the affective mobility, the impulsivity, the suicidal behavior, the aggression, et cetera, those are the effects of the maladaptive interpersonal representation. They're not really the cause.
