The History of Irrigation

The first villages emerged in and around the tigris euphrates and nile rivers. It is difficult to pin point the exact start of irrigation, but it's possible that it could date back as far as six thousand b c e. A typical farming village along the river's edge may begin the construction of canals alongside the water's edge. This would give humans the power to do two things: control the water's behaviour more closely by blocking the canal according to their needs.
