I remember thinking the kind of variation in childhood stories that was accepted as within the range of normal 30, 40, 50 years ago compared to what this generation is like. I just feel like there is a sense in which our expectations for perfection of young people relative to historic norms have shifted and not necessarily for good. As people who score high in perfectionism get older, they also become more prone to experiencing negative emotions like anger, anxiety, and irritability.
