CHAPTER

The Transfer of Necessity

The idea is that there's a kind of necessity that attaches to time, where events are first contingent, and then after they occur, they become necessary. In the argument about foreknowledge, and other sorts of arguments, like about causal determinism, thereis other kinds of necessity that are being discussed. Aythat something is temporally necessary can't be false - it has to do with temporal necessity. It's really the same as what people call the necessity of the past. The transfernecessity principle is an axiom of every system of modof logic, the logic of necessity.
