In the UK there are 4.7 million people with diabetes, which is 7% of the total population and that is roughly 1 in 15 people. Now specifically regarding DKA, so data from the UK National Diabetes Audit shows a one year instance of about 4% in those with type 1 diabetes. So this is not just a problem that affects type 1 diabetics. It is type 2s as well, so you need to have your wits about you.
