The Indestructible Being
From the time of the ancient greeks, philosophers and pries alike have made reference to an indestructible being. We can recognize the same thought about being throughout the history of both eastern and western philosophy. Since nothing seems to last in physical reality, then why not take the buddhist view that all phenomena we perceive in physical reality are basically empty? And since the advent of christendom, or even of monotheism generally, this has always been associated with god, this permanence of being.
