The Myth of Cain and Abel
Samuel Noah Kramer is the principal translator of the Sumerian texts in our English tradition. He found texts from ancient Sumer where an agriculturalist and a shepherd were contending for the grace and approval of the goddess. Then we come over a millenium later to Cain and Abel, making the same bid for the approval of papa. The messages get become garbled right in the way they are driven into it.
