Using Rods for Divination as Part of a Sacramental Ritual
There is no known mormon ritual involving rods, like, no public ones. So either he was just doing it on his own, which there's a long history of people bringing their own magical traditions into m Mormonism. It's entirely possible then, that underneath the templef the great salt lake temple, where the mormon elders go to hold their secret meetings, instead of turning into reptilians, they simply bring out an old rod and try to contact the church hierarchy from beyond. If i had to put money down, i would rather bet on dowsing rods than reptiles.
