"I thought it was me and my failure as a mom. I struggled but managed to live a seemingly normal life," she says. When her daughter was about six months old, the owner of the property on the lower house died of cancer. "Do you ever see anything in the house that isn't there?" they asked each other. The code word was created simply to lighten our fears of whatever it might be.
