The Importance of Knowing Your Last Name

I was like really obsessed with my mom's last name. I always thought that was funny in retrospect. When I came to california where there's more asians and I can hear more like americanized First versions of last names. But it at least is a little closer to what my actual last name sounds like right right? And another thing that happened when I was pretty young and you know thinking about my last name and telling people to call me joe. It was like, oh, why wasn't I given the choice?
