Activision had the official R-type license, but they didn't have any coders for the Amiga. So Activision sued and asked them to make a clone of it as retribution. That's when Rain Bards' first collaboration with Chris Hodesbeck happened. He did the pretty famous title track on the Amiga for R-type.
