Force awakens kicked things off with a hologram that had color to it, you know, thatwas new for the time. It's hard to pin down exactlya how good things are at any point in the series because there is so much technology on board various ships and equipments. The visual effects were better, of course, so there was a bit more ad to do. But in the original trilogy, the holograms are not that great, and people relied more on the video screens.
