The Microbiome and the Colon

The word microbiome, when we use it in the field, means all the organisms, fungi, viruses, bacteria. The colon is the highest density of them and that's where most bugs are. But they're the smallest, so fungi are like 30 times bigger. So if you can visualize an ecosystem in your gut, you have a ton of bacteria, but you could have a huge fungi interspersed throughout them.
