In the 1940s or 50, political scientists Walter Lippmann wrote a book on public relations. He asked how do you have democracy at an age where it's impossible for any person to access all aspects of government? And his answer basically is the art of public relations and shaping public opinion. The media has kind of like open antagonism towards the public now, he says.
