demolition of pen station began in 19 63. The project was now a 105 million dollar project, which called the construction of a 22 thousand seat madison square garden that sat directly on top of the old station. There were also four thousand seat arenaa restaurants, shops, bowling alleys, exhibition spaces,. and at first, two giant office oers on the seventh avenue side, that would later be replaced by just a plan for one office tower. As each part was constructed, they'd remove the old station above it and then construct the building and the station underneath it. They claimed to have had more escalators than any other building in the world. Notably there was a new electronic train sign
