When you don't feel the urge to speak up during every single topic or be the next one to talk, it's better left just to not say anything and wait until you really have something to say. I find my dad has modeled this for our family for a long time,. Usually at extended family gatherings, he listens and pays close attention, but doesn't speak up that much. But when he does, every single person in that room is paying attention. It provides and creates so much more weight for your words.
