The region around the saltan sea is lousy with lithium. There's enough lithium in this area of california to supply forty % of the entire world market. Companies are drilling deep wells to pull up 600 degree fahrenheit brine. They capture the steam from the brine as it cools, and use that steam to spin a turbine to create energy. The brine gets pumped back into the earth and gets hot all over again for a truly renewable resource.
