The Reverse Engineering of Language Models

I think one of the things that I was trying to express in our exchange was that this phrase stochastic parrot can be used in a very dismissive way. There's something interesting going on inside these things, even if it's not always clear what is right. And likewise, our mind is doing something remarkable when it's able to produce language and all the other mysterious things that come out of our human nature. That ultimately is a computation coming from our brain. We did get into a little discussion of whether I was you took issue with my talking using a term reverse engineering where you would use emergence or emergence of certain kind of seeming cognitive properties.
