The Importance of Negative Emotions
Negative emotions get such a bad rap, but I hear you saying they have their place and they're important. Our whole physiological stress response is built around this concept that when something bad, something threatening, the stress response then helps you become physiologically ready to flee or fight. The problem becomes that in modern life, not many of us are facing tigers in our day to day life. So that's where it has sort of gone awry and that our negative emotions now point us to what is maybe going wrong. There's a lot of traffic, so I've got a negative emotion.
