Many in the medical community really seem to think that there were just essential or intrinsic genetic you know black-white differences in health. It's been very well debunked both on anthropological grounds but also on if you compare hypertension rates for example between American blacks and blacks and the Caribbean. I remember hearing that growing up that it was that black people have high blood pressure because of salt retention in the middle passage right? "It doesn't fit any of those narratives," says Dr. King.
