Sports in itself has been so completely corrupted by that money, he says. Most clubs aren't lucky to have a wealthy sugar daddy, right? There is no sugar daddy that can compete with a nation state. So you have some of the richest countries on the planet bidding up the price of talent. And what we've seen since then is clubs trying to compete and trying to keep up,. hemorrhaging huge amounts of cash, putting their own futures in jeopardy.
