Introduction
Dr. Adam Gaffney is an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. He and six colleagues used data from the National Electronic Health Records Survey to assess office-based physicians' experience with documentation in 2019. They found a very high burden of time spent documenting among U.S. doctors. About 1.8 hours is spent by physicians on documentation outside of office hours each day.
