The Greek Relationship to Spectacle
The Greek relationship was spectacle and like gladiatorial combats. The Greeks don't build amphitheaters typically they're not interested in importing this kind of new form of architecture to house spectacle. Instead what they do is they take existing structures primarily theaters and convert those for spectacle entertainment so the theater of Dionysus and Athens gets converted for spectacle in the first century AD.
