The conflict began in 1955 and lasted for almost 20 years. The United States was South Vietnam's main ally. American combat troops were involved from 1965 until 1973. Over the next hour, we're going to meet some of the American veterans who live here. We'll find out why they choose to retire in Vietnam, and how the legacy is still impacting the Vietnamese people 50 years on.
