There were critics of the stanford prison experiment almost from the beginning writes. The most preminent critic was about the ethics of the experiment, right? And another set of a critiqus was saying that all the gards didn't become rude and abuse. So the experiment would tend to prove that people do not spontaneously become abusive if they are told to.
