There were only three aces in the group and he was one of them. The mission as it rapidly evolved for them was brand new. Nobody had really envisioned the close air support close communication that developed between the ground guys and the guys in the P-47s across the entire Nanthe Air Force. Where are the drawing personnel from? Presumably you know they're having to trade everyone up quickly.
