Newman's Library in Birmingham
When he became catholic, he left oxford. He didn't have the prestige of british societyo profoundly anti catholic society. Birmingham as like i would like in it. It's a place of industry with a lot of people who want to be like the people in chicago and new york. The second thing that excluded the viamedia was that the anglican church permitted their members to be under the jurisdiction of a lutheran bishop in the holy land. Newman could find no tenable rule of faith for this viamedia. So anything that's not in scripture needs to be rejected. There are many criticisms of sola scripture throughout his writings.
