Seneca and the Stoic Ideal
Seneca is an interesting figure among the Stoics, kind of a middle ground in some ways. He had talents and abilities that maybe, you know, people were envious of. And he enjoyed a lot of the things that Stoics supposedly turned down their nose at. Part of this essay or letter was trying to reconcile his life with those teachings.
