The Importance of Self-Interest in Love

I actually argue that all love is motivated by something that we want and is to that extent self-interested. So I don't see any conflict of principle between self-interest and altruism in love. In fact, there's something even blasphemous about loving your neighbor just to give to him. You love your neighbor for a higher sake.
