The carrot cake that we enjoy today kind of comes from a war war two recipe. It was sold to people as something that could help them see in the dark so they didn't get banned by Nazis. The reason it was orange is because of fucking William of Orange the Orange man and quite a few recipes like that survived beyond war War Two. So that's the history of carrot cake which I just know would be fascinating, but too weird a cake.
