The Different Types of Tracheostomy Tubes
In a total iron jectomy, you really are suturing the tracheal rings to the skin of the neck. Without a tube, that soft tissue and skin will want to close sort of like a peg tube might. The other key parts to the trache is the cuff, because especially in patients who may need to inflate the cuff at night because they're on a ventilator. Many companies have now gone towards more of a softer plastic.
