Anthony: He was seeking stimulus and something to sort of grist for his creative mill, so to speak. What gets left out is certainly as interesting as what gets put in. There's a recent book that should be mentioned here that is Ryan Kernan's New World Maker. It has some very interesting things to say about transit and about the Soviet Union especially because he did translate with the help of others poems from the Russian.
