Vincent Van Gogh, November 20, 1889

In 1889, as the Twenty began planning the 1890 Expo, they discussed artists which should round out their company. Vincent Van Gogh was invited along with Paul Cezanne, Paul Signa, Henry Day Toulouse-Lautre, Alfred Sisley and Paul Gauguin among others. On October 2, 1888, one year before receiving Mouse's invitation, Vincent wrote a letter to his friend and fellow painter Eugene Bosch. The vineyard he mentioned became the subject of the only painting he sold during his lifetime, the red vineyard.
