When you compare art to other asset classes, like oil, public equities and real estate, the loss rates are actually lower on art. So I would think about diversifying a portion of my overall portfolio into an asset class like art that can provide superior risk-adjusted returns. As long as you're able to wait several years to recognize your return, I think it's a great way to diversify a portfolio for financial independence.
