The best randomised trials aren't the kind of people more likely to open a letter if it's in a red envelope or a blue envelope. And some colleagues have made the point that during COVID we saw a natural experiment where we saw an increase in working-edge benefits through coronavirus supplements. Can we use that as a natural experiment or is that too difficult? Well you can but it depends which outcome you're looking at.
