The Paradox of God's Love

Dr. Craig: I've listened to many Roman Catholic theologians talking about God's love. And sometimes they talk as if when they say they quote 1 John saying God is love, everything else flows out of that. But clearly the property being loving is not the same as the property of being holy or just. In fact they would seem to be opposites in many ways. A person who is perfectly, implacably just will not show mercy or love. They are in one sense opposed to each other and that is why we have this paradoxical situation. The love of God drew me, but the justice and holiness of God impaled me into Christ's arms.
