The History of Elizabeth I
Would you ever make a character in one of your books do something that, if it was based on a real character, they wouldn't have done? I can't. The historical record is the spine and the structure,. especially if it's more of a historical biography book. If we know where Elizabeth I is on June the 12th, I can't put her somewhere else. We know what happened in this universe, I've got to be on that. But what I can do is I can say what she was feeling because nowhere in the record is there any recording of what she was Feeling.
