Redeeming the Constitution

A big part of the resistance that's high lighted in the book is what is sometimes called redemption a. M and so follown the civil war, we have this period first called reconstruction. And reconstruction is where we get an array of reforms that make it look like a multi racial democracy. But then following that, government at all levels begins to backtrack. They begin neutering the foundations of this new regime.
