I'm a Generalist, but I Don't Know Anything.

In an ideal world you would train a specialist in ways that they would be able to think like a generalist, even though they are still a specialist. And this is I think the main skepticism of the generalist, which is that they actually don't know anything. So there is a point where you have to figure out a good division of labor with other people in your collective intelligence network. It's not either or at this point in social evolution we're going to continue to need more specialists. But we don't need to have the truncation of personality development that accompanies hyper specialization.
