The Power of Justice as Fairness

John Rawls' idea that the only condition under which the rich could get much richer is if, as a consequence, the poor are brought up. Frederick Hayek came up with something like the original position, an attempt to model fairness by using a veil of ignorance 30 years before Rawls. If you want to know how to organize our society, we might try to figure out a way to model the idea of fairness. So we might imagine parties making a choice about a whole social structure that they're going to live within behind a kind of a veil and all different facts about themselves.
