The job market is still great, but it's not as strong as before. Be careful trying to bluff your way to a higher wage with your employer. Do not apply for any form of credit in the six months before you planned to apply for a mortgage for a home. Recent applications for credit are looked at really badly in the mortgage business,. But in overall traditional credit reporting they don't affect you that badly.
